“It's funny how the previous generation always says ‘When I was your age . . .’ fill in the blank. But I have also realized that this isn't only generational, it is also positional. The previous group of people will say to the new, ‘we had it worse’ or ‘Count yourselves lucky,’ etc. We are very prideful, and to be honest, selfish. We think that we have always had a harder time at doing something than others.
Now of course there is some truth to this. Obviously, before cars were invented it was a lot harder to get around than nowadays when we have cars. I guess it's just kind of how things work. Things do gradually get better, but we always find some way to complain.
Sad.”
So let’s focus on not complaining, but rather giving thanks in everything, even our shortcomings or misfortune. It seems like God commands us to focus more on others. When we normally focus on others, we tend to be envious, or pity ourselves. God teaches us to rejoice with them, and to consider them as more important than ourselves. :)
